Liverpool are reportedly in talks with RB Leipzig over recalling Portuguese midfielder Fabio Carvalho from his season-long stay due to a lack of minutes in the Bundesliga.

Liverpool have reportedly opened talks with RB Leipzig over recalling Portuguese midfielder Fabio Carvalho from his season-long stay due to his lack of minutes in the Bundesliga.

Since joining the German club on a temporary loan deal in June, the 21-year-old has accumulated just over 250 minutes of playing time.

Out of his 11 total appearances, only two have been in the starting 11, and both of those came in quick succession in late September.

According to The Mirror, The Reds have entered formal discussions with the Bundesliga club due to their dissatisfaction with Carvalho's limited playing time in Germany this season and are looking to bring an early end to his loan spell.

The report adds that Liverpool would likely look to loan the 21-year-old out to another club for the second half of the season, and the midfielder is open to the possibility of rejoining his former club Fulham.

The Cottagers are believed to have confirmed their interest in a possible loan move for their former employee if he does return to England.

However, Leipzig have reiterated that Carvalho is still a crucial part of their plans for the remainder of the season despite the absence of a permanent transfer clause in the agreement.

It is also understood that Leipzig's sporting director Rouven Schroder has expressed that he is not open to discussions regarding a potential termination of the arrangement.
