Liverpool are reportedly in negotiations over a potential deal to sign Euro 2020 winner Federico Chiesa from Juventus.

Liverpool have reportedly held talks over a potential move for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa.

The Italy international has registered 32 goals and 23 assists in 131 competitive appearances during his four-year stay.

Chiesa was a regular fixture in the Juventus side last season, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists in 37 matches.

However, Chiesa has found himself surplus to requirements following the appointment of Thiago Motta as Juventus boss.

Chiesa has entered the final year of his contract and Juventus are keen to offload him before the summer transfer deadline.

Liverpool working on Chiesa deal

The Euro 2020 winner has recently been linked with a move to Barcelona, who are on the lookout for a new winger after failing in their attempts to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have made an initial approach to sign Chiesa in the closing stages of the transfer window.

Romano previously reported that Chiesa has shown a willingness to join the Catalan giants but Juventus are yet to receive a bid from Barcelona.

However, Chiesa has now made it clear that he is excited by the prospect of completing a move to Anfield and personal terms are not expected to be an issue.

The two clubs are now holding talks over a potential transfer, with Juventus believed to be looking for around €15m (£12.7m).

Where would Chiesa fit in at Liverpool?

Liverpool have experienced a difficult transfer window, but they now appear to be making progress in the closing stages of the market.

They are on the verge of signing Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who will return to the Mestalla on loan before joining the Reds next summer.

The Merseyside club could now bolster their attacking options with the addition of Chiesa, who could play outside of Serie A for the first time in his career.

On the face of it, Chiesa may struggle to force his way into the lineup, with Arne Slot able to call upon Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez as his attacking options.

However, with Liverpool looking to compete on four fronts this season, they will need a strong squad to successfully cope with the demands of a long campaign.

While Chiesa has struggled to find his best form in recent times, he has showcased his quality in the past and is a low-risk addition due to his relatively low price.
