A report claims that Nicola Barella will be offered a new-and-improved contract by Inter Milan amid rumoured interest from Liverpool.

Inter Milan are reportedly eager to fend off interest from Liverpool for Nicolo Barella by persuading the midfielder to sign a new contract.

The 24-year-old has been one of the stars of Euro 2020 after helping Italy into the final of the competition, where one of England or Denmark await on Sunday.

Barella has a goal and two assists from five appearances in this year's tournament, and he also played a direct part in 10 goals for Serie A champions Inter last season.

That form has led to rumoured interest from Liverpool, but Calciomercato claims that the Nerazzurri are planning to tie down the 28-cap Italy international to a new deal.

Former Cagliari ace Barella will supposedly be offered a higher salary than he is currently on, and he has also been told that he will one day inherit the captain's armband.
