David Wagner confirms that Huddersfield Town will not be signing Danny Ward on loan from Liverpool for a second time, as he is due to remain at Anfield next term.

Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner has conceded defeat in his attempt to sign goalkeeper Danny Ward from Liverpool on another season-long loan.

The Wales international was the Terriers' first-choice stopper last term, playing a pivotal role in the playoff victories over Sheffield Wednesday and Reading.

Ward will not be returning to the John Smith's Stadium for a second spell, however, as Jurgen Klopp seemingly wants him as part of his Liverpool squad in 2017-18.

"I've spoken with Jurgen and unfortunately he's made the decision that Danny Ward has to go back to Liverpool," he told reporters. "This is a player we will not be able to bring to our club like we've done with Aaron [Mooy]."

Danish keeper Jonas Lossl could now find himself as number one for Huddersfield's maiden Premier League campaign, having joined from Mainz 05 for the duration of the campaign.
