Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Liverpool could line up for Wednesday's Premier League clash with Luton Town.

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp should be forced into at least three alterations for Wednesday's Premier League showdown with Luton Town at Anfield.

The Reds maintained their two-point lead at the summit with a 4-1 crushing of Brentford on Saturday lunchtime, although all of Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones could not emerge for the second half in West London.

Jota and Jones were both withdrawn before the break - the former left the pitch on a stretcher after Jones damaged his shin - and Nunez was also brought off during the half-time changeover on account of an unspecified injury.

Nunez will both be assessed in the coming hours, but Klopp has admitted that Jota is facing months out with his knee concern, and Jones has also been ruled out of Wednesday's game at least.

Stefan Bajcetic (calf), Joel Matip (knee), Ben Doak (knee), Thiago Alcantara (muscle), Dominik Szoboszlai (thigh) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (knee) all remain out of contention too, and the hamstring issue that Alisson Becker picked up in Friday's training session will also render him unavailable.

After coming on for Jota in the first half at Brentford, Mohamed Salah - only just back from a muscular problem - returned to his prolific ways with a goal and assist, as did Nunez's replacement Cody Gakpo.

The pair should therefore link arms with Luis Diaz in a new-look attack - Salah has not been ruled out of the clash despite confirmation of a minor muscular concern - while Ryan Gravenberch is the most likely candidate to fill in for Jones alongside Wataru Endo and Alexis Mac Allister in the engine room.

Klopp has insisted that the visit of Luton demands as much attention as Saturday's EFL Cup final, but with plentiful options for change in defence, the German will surely be tempted to tinker with his options for the midweek affair.

Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah will be in line for starts if Klopp chooses to protect Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate, but there should be no respite for Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson in front of Alisson's deputy Caoimhin Kelleher.

Liverpool possible starting lineup:
Kelleher; Gomez, Quansah, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Endo, Mac Allister; Salah, Gakpo, Diaz
