How Liverpool could line up against Crystal Palace

Sports Mole looks at how champions-elect Liverpool could line up for Wednesday's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace at Anfield.

Liverpool will be looking to take another step towards a first league title for 30 years when they welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield for their first home game behind closed doors.

A goalless draw with Everton in Sunday's Merseyside derby ensured that Jurgen Klopp's side cannot win the title against the Eagles unless they get a helping hand from Burnley on Monday night, but regardless of Manchester City's fate Liverpool are now only five points away from securing the trophy.

However, the Reds have now only won one of their last five games across all competitions and have a showdown with Man City looming in their next league game after this.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool could set their side up for the contest.

The headline team news from the derby was that both Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson missed out, with the latter absent entirely and Salah staying on the bench throughout despite Klopp having five subs available.

With just three days between games, and with Man City next up, Klopp is unlikely to take any risks over their fitness and so both remain doubts for this one, although Salah appears more likely to be available having at least been in the matchday squad.

The Reds also suffered two further injury setbacks in the game itself, with James Milner limping off at the end of the first half due to a hamstring problem which is thought to be minor, but will be enough to keep him out of this match.

Joel Matip sustained a "really painful" toe injury which is also not thought to be serious but will need to be assessed in the buildup to this game, and if both he and Robertson are absent then that could force Joe Gomez to left-back and mean a starting role for Dejan Lovren.

Georginio Wijnaldum will hope for a starting spot too, and with Liverpool having a rare luxury of a week off after this game Klopp does not need to worry about resting his star names with one eye on Man City.

Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane are both expected to start once again, then, with Takumi Minamino forced to settle for a place on the bench after being taken off at half time of the derby.
