Liverpool's matches against Burnley in the 2016-17 Premier League season have been reversed, the club have announced.
Jurgen Klopp's side had been scheduled to face the newly-promoted Clarets in their first home game of the campaign on August 20, but that match will now take place at Turf Moor due to ongoing works on the Main Stand at Anfield.
Liverpool have insisted that the Main Stand will be ready in time, but have opted to switch fixtures anyway, meaning that they will begin the campaign with three away games against Arsenal, Burnley and Tottenham Hotspur.
"The expansion of the Main Stand will be ready and open to fans for the start of the Premier League season, but the additional days prior to the first home game provided by this switch is a prudent approach to a project of this scale," read a statement on the club's official website.
Liverpool will now host Burnley on March 12, and the Clarets apologised to the supporters for any inconvenience caused by the switch-up.
"Burnley Football Club can confirm an agreement has been reached with Liverpool Football Club to reverse their two Premier League games for the 2016-17 season," read a statement.
"Having given this our full consideration, with the full involvement and agreement of manager Sean Dyche, and having secured benefits to the club, we have granted permission for a reversal of the fixtures.
"Burnley Football Club fully appreciate this fixture swap may cause some inconvenience to a number of supporters, for which we apologise. However, we would like reiterate that following the unusual nature of this particular set of circumstances, fixtures are always subject to change."
Liverpool's first home game of the new season will now come against champions Leicester City on September 10.
