Steven Gerrard admits that he will leave Los Angeles Galaxy to return to Liverpool "sooner rather than later".

Steven Gerrard has admitted that he will return to Liverpool "sooner rather than later" following a spell in the United States playing for Los Angeles Galaxy.

The former Liverpool captain left Anfield last summer following a 17-year senior career with his boyhood club, where he made more than 700 appearances.

The 35-year-old is currently in his second season in MLS, but he has said that he will represent Liverpool Football Club once again in the future.

"I will be going home at some point," Gerrard said during a fans' question and answer session at LA Galaxy's home ground. "I don't want to start any unnecessary rumours. I'm really happy where I am at the moment, but I'm sure somewhere down the line I will represent Liverpool Football Club.

"I miss my friends and my family. I miss a bit of cold weather. I miss going to the games. I spent 35 years in Liverpool. Liverpool's my home, it always will be. This is my second home for a short period of time.

"Sooner rather than later I will return to where I'm comfortable with my people, and that's Liverpool."

Earlier this year, Gerrard admitted that he may consider coaching when he retires from playing.
