Loris Karius returns to Liverpool training

New Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius returns to training having missed the opening weeks of the season with a hand injury.

Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius has returned to training following a spell on the sidelines with a hand injury.

The 23-year-old was expected to challenge Simon Mignolet for the number one jersey at Anfield this season, and was given the gloves at the beginning of pre-season while Mignolet was on an extended break following Euro 2016.

However, the German shot-stopper broke his hand in training, ruling him out of the opening weeks of the season, although he has now confirmed that he is on the road to recovery despite still only being able to use one hand.

Karius is not expected to be fit to play until late September, which would see him miss matches against Leicester City, Chelsea and Derby County.
