Mohamed Salah will aim to become the first Liverpool player to score at least 10 goals in two separate Champions League campaigns against Benfica on Tuesday night.

Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah will be out to set a new club record when his side travel to the Estadio da Luz to take on Benfica in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday night.

The Egypt international already has 28 goals to his name in all competitions during the 2021-22 campaign - eight of which have come in Europe's premier competition.

Salah's debut season with Liverpool saw him register 10 goals in 13 Champions League appearances in 2017-18, with the Reds falling at the final hurdle to Real Madrid that year.

Should Salah bag at least two goals on Tuesday night, he will become the first player in Liverpool's history to register at least 10 Champions League goals in two separate campaigns.

Only once has such a feat been achieved before at an English club, with Ruud van Nistelrooy posting two double-figure Champions League campaigns for Manchester United in the 2001-02 and 2002-03 editions.

Salah will form part of a fully-fit Liverpool squad for Tuesday's game, and he is also rumoured to be on the verge of agreeing to a new contract which would keep him at Liverpool for the remainder of his playing career.
