Leicester City reportedly commence an operation to sign a new left-back as part of the club's preparation for Ben Chilwell's departure next summer.

Leicester City have reportedly commenced a scouting operation for a new left-back as part of the club's preparation for Ben Chilwell's departure next summer.

Chilwell, who moved to the King Power Stadium in 2015, has garnered interest from top clubs following a superb 2018-19 season during which he played 36 Premier League games and received his first cap for the England senior side.

Manager Brendan Rodgers expects the 22-year-old to seek pastures new over the summer, with Manchester City considered favourites to land the defender.

According to The Sun, this eventuality has prompted Leicester into searching for a new first-choice left-back ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Premier League champions plan to trigger Chilwell's release clause of £42m, which was inserted into a contract signed only one year ago.

However, reports have also suggested that Chelsea will wade into the race by launching a £70m bid of their own for the Englishman.
