Leeds United's Jesse Marsch reveals that Adam Forshaw will miss the rest of the season due to injury, while Kalvin Phillips 'will start' against Crystal Palace on Monday.

Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch has revealed that midfielder Adam Forshaw will miss the rest of the season after fracturing his kneecap in training.

The 30-year-old had only returned to first-team training at the beginning of this week after missing the 3-0 win over Watford with a minor knock.

However, Marsch has now confirmed that Forshaw is set to face up to six weeks on the sidelines, ruling him out for the remainder of the campaign.

Speaking at his press conference on Friday ahead of Monday's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace, Marsch said: "[Forshaw] was back in training and he took a knock in a collision on his knee cap and unfortunately he fractured the kneecap. It's a six-week injury so that puts him out for the season.

"Adam is one of the guys in the team that I think gives more to the group and does everything he can to think about the team, so for us it's obviously painful."

Marsch was, however, able to provide a positive update on Kalvin Phillips and has revealed that the midfielder will start against Palace.

"The one silver lining we have is that Kalvin is back to 100%. Kalvin will start," the American added.

"I have seen from the beginning he has an effect on the group. His identity and being Leeds. We push him to be better and better and be the best.

"We have talked a lot about the intensity he can play with against the ball and the ease and clarity with the ball. Great in training. Really good training week. Fully fit and fully ready."

Leeds, who currently sit 16th in the Premier League table, are enjoying an impressive run of form at present after winning three and drawing one of their last four matches, scoring nine goals in the process.
