Ipswich Town are reportedly considering a summer swoop for Watford midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru, who is valued at £8m by the second-tier Hornets.

Ipswich Town are reportedly prepared to restart their pursuit of Watford midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru.

The Tractor Boys are ready for a busy summer window, starting with the imminent departure of star striker Liam Delap to Conference League champions Chelsea.

Enzo Maresca's men have supposedly reached a 'total agreement' with Championship-bound Ipswich for the services of the former Manchester City youngster.

Delap netted an impressive 12 top-flight goals during this maiden Premier League term, with his performances set to earn him a high-profile move to Stamford Bridge.

Despite the best efforts of the Englishman, Kieran McKenna's men failed to avoid a bottom-three finish, sentencing them to an immediate return to the second tier.

Ipswich mulling over Dele-Bashiru move?

According to Football League World, newly-relegated Ipswich are considering a possible target for their midfield ranks ahead of the summer window flying open.

The report states that the East Anglian club are mulling over whether to swoop for the services of Watford enforcer Dele-Bashiru ahead of the new term.

It is understood that Ipswich attempted to sign the 25-year-old during the summer transfer window, although the Hornets managed to retain their player.

Watford value Dele-Bashiru significantly, so much so that they are looking to pocket at least £8m from a potential sale of the Nigerian this summer.

In response to that price-tag, Ipswich have supposedly made it clear that they are strictly unwilling to pay such an amount for the midfielder.

Dele Bashiru's injury-plagued campaign

Recent appearance-makers an FA Cup final and regular Premier League competitors, Watford have suffered a sad decline since the start of the 2020s.

Dele-Bashiru is one of the more saleable assets within a struggling Hornets side, who managed a measly 14th-placed finish in the Championship this term.

The 25-year-old's injury record will be of considerable concern to Ipswich, with the midfielder missing a large chunk of 2024-25 because of a serious knee problem.
