Preview: FCSB vs. Silkeborg - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Thursday's Europa Conference League clash between FCSB and Silkeborg, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Fresh from defeating their opponents 5-0 last week, Silkeborg will be attempting to secure another three points in the Europa Conference League.

FCSB need a strong performance this time out, especially since they are currently sat bottom of Group B.

Match preview

FCSB have struggled in the Europa Conference League so far, with just a single point from the opening three games.

That includes a fixture against their upcoming opponents Silkeborg, with the two teams meeting last week in the reverse tie as they were defeated 5-0.

It was a disappointing result for the hosts, but they were able to respond to that perfectly with a 2-0 win in Liga 1.

Goals from Joyskim Dawa and Florinel Coman were enough to secure that result, and the improved defensive performance is something FCSB will be looking to bring on Thursday.

Nicolae Dica's men did keep a clean sheet against Anderlecht on matchday two, and a repeat of that is crucial considering they are already three points behind second place right now.

The visitors are only a point behind Anderlecht right now, with a victory potentially putting them above if the other result in the group goes their way.

Silkeborg are undefeated in their previous four matches across all competitions, with the squad having showcased plenty of confidence as of late.

While they were held to a 1-1 draw at the weekend in the Danish Superliga, even in that match the team proved they have fighting spirit as they came from behind in the 83rd minute thanks to Tonni Adamsen.

Silkeborg have scored seven times across the three Europa Conference League games to this point, and the attacking qualities that they have displayed could be the difference in this one.

The Danish club will not want to drop points in this match, as that would allow FCSB to draw level with them in Group B.

Team News

The hosts will be looking for an improved performance this time around, and the changed 4-3-2 formation that FCSB displayed at the weekend could be used once more here.

This would see Coman come into the team, and after he scored in that victory he would be able to provide some attacking strength to the team.

Adamsen was only used as a substitute in Silekborg's most recent match, but considering the fact he found the back of the net, he could be an option this time around from the first whistle.

Nicolai Larsen was able to overcome an injury concern to feature in the reverse of this fixture, and with two clean sheets in a row, he will be featured in goal again.

FCSB possible starting lineup:
Tarnovanu; Cretu, Tamm, Harut, Serban; Olaru, Edjouma, Cordea; Coman, Omrani, Compagno

Silkeborg possible starting lineup:
Larsen; Sonne, Salquist, Calisir, Engel; Kiynge, Brink, Thordarson; Jorgensen, Helenius, Kusk

We say: FCSB 0-3 Silkeborg

Silkeborg blew FCSB away last week when they met in the Europa Conference League, and that is something that should provide a lot of confidence to the group.

Their attacking qualities have been clear throughout the competition to this point, and that should lead to them getting another win this time around.
