Wigan Athletic made the trip to Everton this afternoon with the victor knowing that a place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium awaited them.
The away side had not beaten Everton in their last nine attempts, but they went on to rip up the form book with three unanswered goals during four first-half minutes.
Maynor Figueroa opened the scoring from a corner, before Callum McManaman and Jordi Gomez netted soon after.
Everton went in search of goals after the restart, but they were unable to find a way through the Wigan defence.
