A 2-1 win over France Under-20s sees Gareth Southgate's England Under-21s clinch Toulon Tournament glory.

England Under-21s have won the Toulon Tournament for the first time since 1994 thanks to a 2-1 triumph over France Under-20s this evening.

Twenty-two years ago the likes of Jamie Redknapp, Ray Parlour, Sol Campbell and Robbie Fowler all featured for the Young Lions, but tonight it was Chelsea duo Lewis Baker and Ruben Loftus-Cheek that clinched glory.

It took Gareth Southgate's side only eight minutes to break the deadlock as James Ward-Prowse released Baker.

The striker, who spent last season on loan with Vitesse Arnhem in Holland, kept his composure to loop in his fourth goal of the tournament - no player scored more.

Then, seven minutes before the break, Loftus-Cheek broke into the France box and calmly lifted the loose ball into the French net.

There were some nervy moments in the closing stages when Thomas Robinet pulled a goal back for the French, but England held out to claim the trophy.

Brazil full-back Cafu lifts the World Cup on June 30, 2002.
