The Dundee striker scored a hat-trick against Hamilton.

Dundee striker Kenny Miller has credited Jim McIntyre's tactical breakthrough for his scoring spree.

Miller netted a hat-trick on Wednesday as Dundee thrashed Hamilton 4-0 to claim their first victory under McIntyre.

Dundee only scored twice in Miller's first seven matches since joining from Livingston but he himself has now netted five times across a three-match unbeaten run.

The 38-year-old told DeeTV: "It's been pleasing but we are getting in better positions now. The manager has come in and demanded what he wants and the way he wants us to play. Over the last three or four games we have started seeing the benefits of that.

"We have been in getting better positions to create scoring opportunities and it's no surprise we have started scoring in the last few games.

"Since I came in it was something we were lacking, we were conceding too many chances and not creating enough.

"But over the last three or four games we have definitely seen an upturn. The chances have been coming along, the attacking play has been a lot better, defensively we look more of a unit.

"It's not just defenders who defend, it's the whole team. It's not just the strikers who attack, you need your full-backs getting up and midfielders supporting. I think we've seen a different level of energy in the last three or four games."

The Ladbrokes Premiership will need to maintain those levels as they begin a difficult run of games which starts at home to Rangers on Sunday and continues against league leaders Kilmarnock, Aberdeen and Celtic before Christmas.

Miller said: "If we can hit the levels that we have hit in the past three or four games then we will be competitive. If we drop below it then we won't."
