Doncaster Rovers have earned promotion back to League One at the first time of asking.

A solitary goal from Tommy Rowe late in their home encounter with Mansfield Town this afternoon was enough to seal all three points for Darren Ferguson's side, giving them an /football/league-two/table.html">18-point advantage over fourth-placed Luton Town with five games of the season remaining.

Donny had lost just one game at home all season - and seven overall - and boast the division's top scorer in John Marquis, who has netted 26 times in 40 appearances.

Ferguson took over at the Keepmoat in October 2015 but was unable to prevent the club's slide into the fourth tier, just two seasons after they had been competing in the Championship.

Rovers are six points clear of second-placed Plymouth Argyle, who will look to take a step closer to securing their own promotion when they travel to third-placed Portsmouth on Good Friday.
