Chelsea legend Frank Sinclair has revealed to Sports Mole that he has four players in mind who should be signed during the summer transfer window.
With Champions League qualification having been secured through fourth place in the Premier League, Chelsea are in a stronger position at the negotiating table when it comes to trying to attract new players.
Three fresh faces will already be a part of Enzo Maresca's squad next season, Brazilian duo Andrey Santos and Estevao Willian due to arrive at Stamford Bridge after their impressive stints with Strasbourg and Palmeiras respectively.
Liam Delap was also signed from Ipswich Town in a £30m deal earlier this week, the 22-year-old being tipped to rival Nicolas Jackson for a starting role in 2025-26.
However, Sinclair is of the opinion that Chelsea should be aiming to sign more proven quality in several areas of the pitch, rather than focusing on potential.
'The Premier League wouldn't phase him'
Sinclair, who made 218 appearances and won three pieces of silverware during an eight-year stint between 1990 and 1998, feels that the Blues recruitment team should be involving themselves in the race for free-scoring front duo Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres.
Meanwhile, versatile Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers and Lazio centre-back Mario Gila would also be on Sinclair's radar if he was choosing players to move to West London.
In association with William Hill, the former defender said: "There is definite need to add more established quality to this young squad. Chelsea got Champions League football, which was the aim, but now if they want to challenge for the Premier League then they need more strength in depth, more established players that can ensure Chelsea can be more consistent during the season.
"Looking at who I like, I believe we need a established striker so Osimhen has been mentioned, and I like him a lot. I don’t see the Premier League phasing him at all and can be a big threat for Chelsea If he joins.
"Gyokeres is another striker who Chelsea should look to enquire about as he has some great numbers to his game and his more of a team player than Osimhen, but either can take Chelsea to the next level.
"I like Morgan Rogers at Aston Villa; Chelsea need back up on the left-hand side of the pitch in the forward positions. I also believe Chelsea need a top centre-back and Mario Gila is one player I like, and he could really bolster the Chelsea back line."
Where do Chelsea stand in race for Sinclair's choices?
Napoli's Osimhen and Sporting's Gyokeres both have wide-ranging admirers, the current belief being that Chelsea are not the frontrunners for either.
Although Chelsea have long been linked with boyhood Chelsea fan Osimhen, his wage demands may not meet the club's model, while it appears, from the outside, that Chelsea have not necessarily been proactive in the race for Gyokeres.
Rogers and Gila have each been suggested as potential arrivals in the past. If Aston Villa were to sell Rogers, though, it would be purely down to their vulnerable position with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability regulations.
Paris Saint-Germain are allegedly attempting to sign Gila, a former Real Madrid youngster, but Lazio will reportedly only entertain 'irresistable' offers over the coming months.
