Sports Mole looks at what needs to happen for Liverpool to win the Premier League title this evening, when closest challengers Manchester City take on Chelsea.

Liverpool could finally end their 30-year wait to be crowned champions of England for a 19th time tonight when closest challengers Manchester City face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Jurgen Klopp's side thrashed Crystal Palace 4-0 in their first home game after lockdown on Wednesday evening, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, Fabinho and Sadio Mane all on the scoresheet for the champions-elect.

The victory took Liverpool 23 points clear with seven games of their season remaining, but Man City still have eight matches left including tonight's trip to West London and so could still amass 24 points if they win all of those games.

However, should Pep Guardiola's defending champions fail to beat Chelsea then Liverpool would be crowned champions this evening; a draw would leave City 22 points behind with only 21 points left to play for.

Man City have won both matches back since lockdown in convincing fashion, scoring eight goals without reply in victories over Arsenal and Burnley.

Should they make it three wins from three then Liverpool's wait to secure a first league title since 1990 will extend until at least July 2, when they face Man City at the Etihad Stadium.
