Tottenham Hotspur are allegedly contemplating whether to push for a reunion with former head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Tottenham Hotspur are allegedly giving consideration to a reunion with former head coach Mauricio Pochettino at the end of the season.

On Sunday evening, Spurs made it nine points from a possible 12 in the Premier League as they recorded a 2-0 victory over London rivals West Ham United, moving the club into fourth spot in the standings.

However, the result came with Cristian Stellini in the dugout as Antonio Conte continues to recover from gallbladder surgery back in Italy.

While Conte is expected to return to work when possible, there had already been speculation regarding whether he would sign a new contract with Spurs at the end of the season.

Although the 53-year-old has talked up his enjoyment of competing in the Premier League, he has also acknowledged that there is always temptation to return to his homeland.

That has effectively left Spurs in a position where they must consider each outcome, aware that they have already lost ground on some of their rivals this campaign and must resolve Harry Kane's future as soon as possible.

According to journalist Nicolo Schira, the Spurs hierarchy are prepared to consider the reappointment of Pochettino in the summer.

The Argentine previously managed the North London outfit between May 2014 and November 2019, winning 159 of his 293 matches in charge and guiding the club to a Champions League final.

Pochettino was dismissed less than six months after that achievement with Spurs down in 14th spot in the Premier League table at the time, but they have remained inconsistent under the likes of Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Conte.

The 50-year-old has been out of work since losing his position at Paris Saint-Germain in July, despite winning the Ligue 1 title, although he is known to be ready to take his next job.

Pochettino has frequently been linked with a move to Chelsea should Graham Potter be removed from his duties, and he would have been a candidate for the England job had Gareth Southgate resigned after the World Cup.

More recently, Pochettino allegedly turned down the opportunity to take over Leeds United, while former club Southampton were touted as a possible destination before they identified other targets.

Schira adds that Atletico Madrid will also considering appointing Pochettino should Diego Simeone depart Wanda Metropolitano at the end of the season.
