Chelsea boss Antonio Conte challenges his side to beat Sunderland on the final day in order to become the first team to win 30 matches in a 38-game Premier League season.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has challenged his side to become the first team in Premier League history to win 30 matches in a 38-game season.

Monday night's 4-3 triumph over Watford at Stamford Bridge saw the Blues move onto 29 for the campaign - level with Jose Mourinho's Chelsea class of 2004-05 - leaving them needing to beat bottom-of-the-table Sunderland at home on the final day to set a new marker.

Having already wrapped up the title, Conte is eager for his side to keep their intensity going in order to achieve the target and keep up their winning form ahead of the FA Cup final later this month.

"We could become the first team to reach this target. This opportunity keeps our concentration, keeps our focus very high," he told Chelsea TV.

"Now it's very important not only to finish the celebrations, but to continue all this week and to arrive and to play on Sunday against Sunderland, to try to win.

"Then to see our captain, our legend, John Terry, to lift the cup. And to share this moment with the fans, with the players, with the club. I'm looking forward to this moment."

Should Chelsea beat Sunderland then they would finish the season with 93 points - a tally bettered only once in Premier League history.
