Half-Time Report: Sunderland, Chelsea level at half time in League Cup

Neither Sunderland or Chelsea manage to break the deadlock before half time in their quarter-final League Cup clash.

It is 0-0 at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland's League Cup quarter-final against Chelsea.

Chelsea pushed forwards early on and Willian found Andre Schurrle, who hit a 20-yard shot into the arms of Vito Mannone.

The away side continued to have the better of the play in the opening 20 minutes, but Frank Lampard blasted one wide from long range and Schurrle's cutback evaded everyone in the box after he had beaten Wes Brown.

As the first half progressed the match turned slightly scrappy, with neither side creating any clear-cut chances.

Willian and Lampard combined after Sunderland had failed to clear, but the Brazilian's shot was off target and wide of the post.

Chelsea began to up the tempo before the break, but Schurrle scuffed a shot wide after good work to beat his marker.
