Chelsea will be looking to avoid ending an 11-year Champions League streak when they face Red Bull Salzburg on Wednesday evening.

Chelsea will be attempting to avoid ending an 11-year Champions League streak when they square off against Red Bull Salzburg on Wednesday night.

A week on from the sacking of Thomas Tuchel, the Blues return to action with former Brighton & Hove Albion boss Graham Potter in the dugout.

During his press conference ahead of the game, the Englishman suggested that he would be attending his first-ever Champions League fixture.

Potter's priority will be to ensure that Chelsea get up and running in this competition after the 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb last week.

If Chelsea do not get on the scoresheet against the Austrian champions, it will leave the West Londoners well off the pace ahead of meeting AC Milan.

Such circumstances would also end an 11-year streak which has been active since Carlo Ancelotti was in charge during the 2010-11 campaign.

Not since then have Chelsea gone two successive games without scoring a goal in the same Champions League season.

The Premier League outfit posted a goalless draw with Copenhagen in the second leg of their last-16 tie before succumbing to a 1-0 defeat against Manchester United in the opening game of their quarter-final contest.

Chelsea have failed to net in two of their seven fixtures this season, while it took a penalty to get on the scoresheet in the top-flight opener at Everton.
