Wolves transfer news: Sturm Graz star 'being tracked' by Premier League, Bundesliga clubs

Wolverhampton Wanderers are allegedly among the clubs who are contemplating an approach for a star player from Sturm Graz during the summer transfer window.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have allegedly identified a Sturm Graz midfielder as a potential summer transfer target.

Despite a recent six-match winning streak in the Premier League, Vitor Pereira's debut campaign at Molineux is ending in a damp squib with three defeats being posted in succession.

On the back of Tuesday's 4-2 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace, the Portuguese stressed that Wolves are facing an important period in the transfer market.

With Matheus Cunha highly likely to sign for Manchester United in a deal worth £62.5m, there will be funds for Pereira to allocate to improving different positions.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who was commenting on X, Wolves have placed Tochi Chukwuani on their shortlist of potential additions.

Who is Tochi Chukwuani?

The 22-year-old has spent the early part of his career playing in Denmark or Austria for the likes of Nordsjaelland, Lyngby and Sturm Graz.

In his first season at the latter, a total of 35 appearances have been accumulated, including seven outings in the Champions League where he completed the 90 minutes in wins over Girona and RB Leipzig.

Although the Denmark Under-21 international has only started 11 of his 26 games in the Austrian Bundesliga, he has helped Sturm Graz move to the brink of the league title.

Romano namechecks both Wolves and Hoffenheim as suitors of Chukwuani, while French clubs are also said to be admirers of his potential.

Despite possessing a contract until 2028, it is suggested that Sturm Graz may consider offers for his signature. Less than 12 months ago, Chukwuani cost just €200,000 (£168,890).

First-team addition or business deal?

Given his previous transfer fee, it is understandable that Sturm Graz may see the potential of making a substantial profit and teams like Wolves and Hoffenheim sense an opportunity to secure value for money.

The fact that Chukwuani already has seven Champions League starts under his belt shows that he has the potential to impress at a bigger club.

In the case of Wolves, they may be attracted to his versatility as well as natural ability. Although a recognised central midfielder, Chukwuani has also started six games at wing-back this season, three times on each flank.

As such, Chukwuani could become a valuable option under Pereira, who deploys a 3-4-2-1 formation. He could also plausibly replace someone like Tommy Doyle after Pereira publicly acknowledged that he does not suit his style of play.
