Marco Asensio says that it is "still too early" to speak about a possible move away from Real Madrid.

Marco Asensio has said that it is "still too early" to speak about a possible move away from Real Madrid.

The attacker's future was the subject of speculation over the summer, with Arsenal and Liverpool among a number of clubs believed to be keen on signing the Spain international.

Asensio has been a regular for Los Blancos this season, making 18 appearances in all competitions, contributing five goals and one assist in the process.

However, the 25-year-old has only started seven games this term, having largely found it difficult to rediscover his best form since suffering a serious knee injury in July 2019.

Asensio has said that he is desperate to be a key player for Real Madrid but is not currently prepared to discuss a possible Bernabeu exit.

"Sometimes [my situation] is complicated, but my goal is clear," Asensio told Movistar+. "Our collective goal is for this to be a good year for everyone.

"I am focused on my work and doing my best. Obviously, my goal is to be [an] important [part of the team] and spend as much time as possible on the pitch. I work every day to do that.

"It is still too early to talk about [a potential departure from Real Madrid]. As I said I want to be playing, working and have consistency. Then we will see how things go."

Asensio has scored 42 goals and registered 23 assists in 211 appearances for Los Blancos since making the move from Mallorca in 2014.
