Arsenal could open a season with four defeats for the first time since 1923 when they welcome Norwich City to the Emirates for Saturday's Premier League encounter.

Arsenal will hope to avoid equalling a 98-year-old unwanted club record when they welcome Norwich City to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners have made a torrid start to the new Premier League season, suffering three consecutive defeats to Brentford, Chelsea and Manchester City without finding the back of the net.

Mikel Arteta has already overseen the worst start to a league season for Arsenal since 1954, but the Spaniard could equal yet another unwanted historical record should they fail to produce the goods against Norwich.

The Canaries also travel to North London in search of their first league win of the season, and should Arsenal lose today, it will mark the first time that they have lost their first four games in a league campaign since 1923.

Furthermore, four defeats on the bounce already represents a club record for consecutive league losses, but they have won 25 of their last 30 home games against newly-promoted sides in the top flight.

Both Arsenal and Norwich are yet to pick up a point in league action this term, but the two sides have claimed 6-0 EFL Cup wins over West Bromwich Albion and Bournemouth respectively.
