How Argentina could line up against Uruguay

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Argentina could line up for Saturday's Copa America clash with Uruguay.

After a somewhat disappointing draw with Chile in their opening game of the Copa America, Argentina may look to make slight tweaks for the huge clash with Uruguay on Saturday.

Their line will be led by talisman Lionel Messi, who netted his 73rd international goal on Monday as he scored a stunning free kick to put his side ahead in that Chile match.

He was joined in the front three by Lautaro Martinez and Nicolas Gonzalez in the opener, although there are plenty of options in the squad such as winger Angel Di Maria, should manager Lionel Scaloni opt to shuffle his pack.

Messi's new Barcelona teammate Sergio Aguero will also look to come into the starting side, having netted 41 goals for his nation.

He could come into the XI in place of Gonzalez, who had a disappointing performance as he squandered several close-range opportunities to seal the victory for his side, with Lautaro Martinez potentially moving to the left flank to accommodate the 33-year-old in the middle of the forward line.

Scaloni has less reason to change his midfield around though, with Leandro Paredes, Giovani Lo Celso and Rodrigo De Paul proving themselves to be an impressive unit.

Tottenham Hotspur man Lo Celso was particularly impressive in the opening draw, creating several chances with some intelligent runs and passes.

Despite a shaky performance last time out, Benfica defender Nicolas Otamendi should keep his centre-back slot alongside Lucas Martinez Quarta, given their lack of depth at the back.

They will line up in front of goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, who was one of the Premier League's standout stoppers last season following a move from Arsenal to Aston Villa.

He saved a penalty in their opening draw, but was unlucky to see the rebound slotted in for Chile's equaliser.

Argentina possible starting lineup: E Martinez; Montiel, Martinez Quarta, Otamendi, Tagliafico; De Paul, Paredes, Lo Celso; Messi, Aguero, L Martinez
