James Franco has admitted to having sex with students at his now-defunct acting school.
In 2019, two of his former students at his 'Studio 4' acting school launched a lawsuit against the actor alleging sexual harassment, claiming that in a masterclass called 'Sex Scenes', the youngsters were encouraged to improvise sexual situations which were taped for Franco to review.
The 43-year-old has not commented publicly on the allegations since they first emerged, but finally addressed the issue during an interview for The Jess Cagle Show podcast.
"Look, I'll admit I did sleep with students," he said. "I didn't sleep with anybody in that particular class. But, over the course of my teaching, I did sleep with students and that was wrong."
He continued: "I wasn't the person that selected the people to be in the class. So it wasn't a master plan on my part.
"But yes, there were certain instances where, you know what, I was in a consensual thing with a student and I shouldn't have been. I suppose at the time, my thinking was if it's consensual, OK.
"Of course I knew, talking to other people, other teachers or whatever, like, yeah, it's probably not a cool thing. At the time, I was not clearheaded."
Earlier this year Franco reached a $2.2m settlement with his accusers over the lawsuit.
