Krzysztof Ratajski has prevailed in Monday's Players Championship 15 event with victory over Dave Chisnall in the final.
Prior to the tournament in Hildesheim, the Pole had not won a PDC event for over two years and had suffered seven successive first-round exits in floor competitions.
However, the 48-year-old produced his best darts for some time to seal one of the best wins of his career, capping it with an 8-4 success over Chisnall.
After the Englishman had won the first leg, Ratajski put together a run of 15, 14, 15 and 12 darts to move into a 4-1 lead before Chisnall stopped the rot with a 10-darter.
Although the second seed reduced the deficit to 4-3, his 28th-seeded opponent reeled off four of the next five legs, securing the title with an 86 checkout.
Earlier in the day, he had come through last-leg deciders against Jamai van den Herik and Ross Smith, while he also defeated Scott Williams 7-4 in the final.
Up until the final, Chisnall had been the star performer of the day, beating Joe Cullen, Mike De Decker and Danny Noppert from the last 16 onwards.
