Milos Raonic overcomes Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to set up Andy Murray semi-final

Milos Raonic beats home favourite Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-2 7-6(4) in the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters.

Fourth seed Milos Raonic has defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to set up a semi-final meeting with Andy Murray at the Paris Masters.

The Canadian pro came out on top 6-2 7-6(4) in straight sets to remain on course for a ninth career title.

Raonic will now face Murray for a place in the final, with victory for the in-form Brit enough to see him usurp Novak Djokovic as the world's top-ranked player.

Murray will not find life easy against the 25-year-old, though, as he stormed through the first set of his showdown with home favourite Tsonga by holding serve and breaking his opponent twice.

A tighter second set followed, with both players holding throughout to pave the way for a tie-break, which Raonic edged 7-4 to keep his own hopes of title success in the French capital alive.
