Result: Canada clinch rugby sevens bronze at expense of Great Britain

Canada win the first ever Olympic rugby sevens medal by taking bronze thanks to a 33-10 win over Great Britain at Rio 2016.

Great Britain's rugby sevens women have missed out on an Olympic medal following a 33-10 defeat to Canada in the bronze match at Rio 2016.

Britain, who were beaten 25-7 to New Zealand in the last four, trailed 26-5 at half time, with Canada running riot following Emily Scarratt's yellow card for a deliberate knock-on.

Team GB, who beat Canada 22-0 in the pool stage, scored though Jasmine Joyce and Danielle Waterman but could not claw back the deficit as Les Rouges won the first ever Olympic rugby sevens medal.

New Zealand and Australia contested the gold-medal match.
