FIFA warns broadcasters about focusing on women

FIFA diversity boss Federico Addiechi announces that broadcasters have been ordered to stop their cameras zooming in on "hot women" in the crowd at football matches.

FIFA's diversity boss has stated that broadcasters have been ordered to stop their cameras zooming in on "hot women" in the crowd at football matches.

Federico Addiechi also believes that football's world governing body must help tackle sexism at the World Cup.

Anti-discrimination group Fare Network has said that sexism has been the biggest problem at Russia 2018, mainly of Russian women being "accosted in the streets" by male fans.

"We've done it with individual broadcasters. We've done it with our host broadcast services," Addiechi told BBC Sport.

Asked if the crackdown on cutaways of female fans would become official FIFA policy, Addiechi said: "This is one of the activities we definitely will have in future - it's a normal evolution."

During the World Cup, Getty Images published a photo gallery of "the hottest fans at the World Cup" featuring exclusively young women, which was later removed by the photographic agency and described as a "regrettable error in judgement".
