The football anthem 'Three Lions' has stormed to number one in the charts, with England reaching the semi-finals of a World Cup for the first time in 28 years.

'Three Lions', which was written by comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner and performed by The Lightning Seeds, has risen from number 33 in the charts to first position in The Official Vodafone Big Top 40.

The track - released before Euro '96 - has had a resurgence due to England's run to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup, with Gareth Southgate's side facing Croatia on Wednesday night for a spot in the final.

'Three Lions' has knocked Clean Bandit's 'Solo' - featuring Demi Lovato - off first position.

England beat Colombia on penalties in the round of 16 on July 3 before recording a 2-0 win over Sweden in the quarter-finals of the competition on Saturday afternoon.
