Lee Johnson reveals he has flown in a special bottle of wine from Portugal in the hope of enticing Jose Mourinho into a post-game chat after Bristol City face Man United.

Bristol City manager Lee Johnson has joked that he hopes to entice Manchester United counterpart Jose Mourinho into a post-game chat with a £450 bottle of wine flown in from Portugal.

The Robins, flying high in the Championship in their current standing of third place, welcome Premier League big boys United to Ashton Gate in the EFL Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday night.

Johnson admits to being a big fan of Mourinho, who has won this trophy three times with former club Chelsea, and hopes that he can 'pick the brain' of the Special One come full time.

Asked about a potential chat, the 36-year-old told BBC Sport: "I hope so. I spent £450 on a bottle of wine! I have had to raid my little girl's piggy bank. It is being flown in especially from Portugal.

"We have done the due diligence and realised Jose likes this particular bottle that has to be poured by an expert. So hopefully he'll come in and have a little chat with me and I'll try to pick his brain for five or 10 minutes.

"He's absolutely at the top of his game, with world-class managerial qualities. Any young coaches like myself of course naturally try and emulate coaches like that.

"Jose's right up there - I've read all his books, I've watched any session that's possible to watch, I've studied his interviews. He was a player at the same sort of level that I played and hopefully one day I'll be managing at the top level with Bristol City."

Bristol City are competing in the last eight of the EFL Cup for the first time since the 1988-89 season.
