Arsenal's Arsene Wenger: 'David Bowie gave my generation an important message'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that late legendary entertainer David Bowie taught his generation to 'be themselves'.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has paid tribute to David Bowie by claiming that the legendary rock star taught his generation to 'be themselves'.

The 'Life on Mars?' singer, whose music career spanned six decades, passed away on Sunday following an 18-month battle with cancer.

Famous faces from all corners of the entertainment industry have paid tribute to the 69-year-old, and Wenger has also had his say.

During Monday's press conference, Wenger told reporters: "The message he gave to my generation was very important after the Second World War.

"What I keep was his philosophical message - that you should be strong enough to be yourself."

Bowie released his final studio album Blackstar on his 69th birthday last Friday.
