Dr Helmut Marko says that while Sebastian Vettel remains a strong contender to take over his role as Red Bull’s motorsport advisor, he is far from the only option under consideration.
Just weeks ago, speculation suggested that the four-time world champion was the frontrunner to succeed 82-year-old Marko, with both parties publicly entertaining the idea of a smooth transition.
But speaking to Servus TV, Marko indicated that no decision has been made and several names are in the frame.
"Of course, we have to think about it," he said when asked about 37-year-old Vettel.
"Sebastian would be an ideal candidate. But there are no discussions that have gone into detail.
"There are many names and also many applicants - but at the moment I'm still quite fit."
Despite his age, Marko remains one of the most hands-on figures in the F1 paddock, attending all 24 grands prix and continuing to manage Red Bull's junior driver pipeline.
In a separate interview with Speed Week, Marko admitted that the current Red Bull car may not be enough to secure Max Verstappen a fifth consecutive world title.
"Maybe it's just a small adjustment that needs to be made," he said.
"We're working tirelessly on this and will continue to make small developments, but nothing major is planned now.
"We've had some major updates already, such as a new floor and new sidepods. But now it will be more about the details.
We will continue developing as long as there's a chance in the world championship. After that, the focus will shift entirely to the 2026 project."
