Pardew: I've held

Head coach Alan Pardew says that he has held "clear the air" talks with the club's board as he continues to fight for his job at The Hawthorns.

West Bromwich Albion head coach Alan Pardew has acknowledged that he has spoken with the club's owners regarding his future at The Hawthorns.

Since replacing Tony Pulis, Pardew has recorded three wins and 11 defeats from 19 matches in all competitions, and the Baggies sit eight points adrift of safety in the Premier League table.

Reports have previously suggested that Pardew is close to losing his job at the West Midlands outfit, but it appears that the experienced manager has taken the opportunity to speak honestly with the club's hierarchy.

The 56-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "I told them what I think perhaps needs to happen going forward. They listened and I'm still in a job.

"I said it was probably time I spoke to upstairs and said, 'I don't know where all this speculation is coming from, so let's clear the air'".

Pardew has said that he has been left "frustrated and angry" with the club's recent form in the top flight.
