Villarreal welcomed out-of-form Eibar to El Madrigal on Sunday looking to move within six points of the top four in La Liga.
The hosts had a number of chances in the first period, but could not make the breakthrough as the two sides entered the interval on level terms.
The Yellow Submarine eventually opened the scoring 20 minutes from time through Luciano Vietto and the Argentine's strike proved the difference between the two teams.
