A report claims that Greek youngster Charis Mavrias will leave Sunderland on loan in January.

Greek international Charis Mavrias will reportedly leave Sunderland on loan in the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old joined the Black Cats on a three-year deal from Panathinaikos last summer, but has made just four league appearances in England.

According to the Sunderland Echo, manager Gus Poyet feels that the midfielder's development will be best served away from the Stadium of Light, opening up the possibility of a loan move next month.

Mavrias, who could return to his former club Panathinaikos, has already gained three international caps.
