Charlie Adam admits that he wants to stay at Stoke City but stresses that he would like to be playing more regularly for the first team.

Charlie Adam had stressed that he wants to stay at Stoke City but is also frustrated over his lack of first-team action.

The midfielder made his first Premier League appearance of the season in the Potters' 1-0 victory over Watford as an 88th-minute substitute.

Adam has only played 331 minutes in the current campaign, with his other appearances coming in the EFL Cup and the EFL Trophy.

"I love it here and I want to stay but I want to be playing as well so we will have to wait and see," the 31-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying. "It is frustrating but we will see what happens in the next couple of months and go from there.

"The manager (Mark Hughes) has said that I would have to wait for an injury or a suspension before I get an opportunity.

"I try and work hard, I don't cause any problems, I enjoy it there and the manager knows that when called on he could rely on me. But it all comes down to the club and what they want to do. It's a great club to be part of and we will see what happens."

Adam has made 153 appearances for Stoke since his 2012 move from Liverpool.
