Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane reportedly puts talks over a new contract on hold until after the World Cup, with his deal due to expire in the summer of 2024.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has reportedly put contract talks with the North London club on ice until after the World Cup.

The England captain is due to become a free agent in the summer of 2024, and speculation surrounding his next career move is starting to hot up again.

Kane was initially believed to have been pushing for a move away from Tottenham in 2021, but Daniel Levy refused to budge on his £150m asking price for the striker.

As a result, Kane stayed on to propel Tottenham back into the Champions League with 17 Premier League goals last season, but Antonio Conte's side ended another season trophyless.

Bayern Munich have publicly declared their interest in signing Kane as a replacement for Roberto Lewandowski, but Tottenham are determined to agree a new deal with the Englishman.

According to the Evening Standard, talks between Kane and Tottenham over a new deal are yet to begin as the striker is totally focused on his on-field endeavours for the time being.

The report adds that Kane will not entertain the idea of contract talks until after the 2022 World Cup, with England taking on Iran, Wales and the USA in Group B next month.

Nevertheless, Tottenham are believed to be confident about the possibility of agreeing a new deal with Kane, who has started the 2022-23 season in stellar form for the Lilywhites.

The Three Lions skipper has 10 goals to boast from 12 Premier League games, taking his total for Spurs to 259 goals and 61 assists in 403 matches in all tournaments.

Director Fabio Paratici is also optimistic about the club's chances of keeping Kane on the books, telling the press last month: "We are confident and always in contact. There is a great relationship between him and the club, we are very optimistic."

As well as tying Kane down to a new deal, Tottenham are also reported to be keen to agree extensions with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Eric Dier - two ever-presents in Conte's XI.

Hojbjerg has scored three goals and set up three more in 16 outings for the Lilywhites this term, and his deal is due to run out in 2025, but preliminary talks are said to be underway.

Meanwhile, Dier has started all 17 games for Tottenham this term, and his form has earned him a route back into Gareth Southgate's England squad ahead of the World Cup.

As is the case with Kane, Dier also has less than two years left to run on his contract, and he is also expected to enter contract discussions with the Lilywhites after Qatar.

Kane, Dier and Hojbjerg are all expected to be in the first XI when Tottenham take on Bournemouth aiming to avoid a fourth game in a row without a win on Saturday.
