There is a growing belief that Jose Mourinho will not be in charge of Tottenham Hotspur for the 2021-22 season, according to a report.

Tottenham Hotspur do not expect Jose Mourinho to still be in control of the reins for the 2021-22 campaign, according to a report.

The Portuguese boss has a chance to end the Lilywhites' trophy drought in next weekend's EFL Cup final against Manchester City, but his side's Champions League hopes are hanging by a thread.

Having already been knocked out of the Europa League, Spurs are five points adrift of the top four with six games left to play and could only muster a point from a 2-2 draw with Everton on Friday night.

Now, football.london reports that there is a growing belief behind-the-scenes at the club that Mourinho will not be in charge next season, with the former Chelsea and Manchester United boss now the bookies' favourite to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job.

The report adds that Mourinho's defensive tactics and failure to offload out-of-favour players have not helped his cause, and while he has not lost the dressing room, his decisions to freeze certain players out of the team have not gone down well.

Daniel Levy has been tipped to bring in RB Leipzig's Julian Nagelsmann as their new manager for the 2021-22 season, but the 33-year-old is reportedly being lined up as Hansi Flick's replacement at Bayern Munich.
