Result: Queens Park Rangers earn a point against Tottenham Hotspur

Queens Park Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur play out a goalless draw at Loftus Road.

A goalless draw against Tottenham Hotspur has helped lift Queens Park Rangers off the bottom of the Premier League table.

Spurs missed an early chance when Jermain Defoe struck the post, while Julio Cesar kept out the rebound from Emmanuel Adebayor.

The hosts found their way into the game, with two chances falling to Shaun Wright-Phillips in the opening 45 minutes.

QPR defended well in the first half, restricting Spurs to mainly long-range efforts, providing easy saves for Cesar.

The visitors suffered an injury blow inside the opening half-hour, when Sandro had to go off with a knee injury, being replaced by Scott Parker.

A more attacking Tottenham started the second half brightly, a Gareth Bale free kick forcing Cesar into action inside the first two minutes.

Another Spurs free kick saw Andre Villas-Boas's side threaten the QPR goal again just minutes later, this time Kyle Walker taking the kick, which sailed just high of the crossbar.

The hosts were able to weather the Tottenham storm, but rarely looked like breaking into the final third in the opening 20 minutes of the second half, with much of the action taking place in midfield.

Bale had another chance with a free kick inside the final 10 minutes of the match, but his effort curled wide, before Wright-Phillips spurned another chance for QPR at the other end of the pitch moments later.

The draw lifts QPR above Reading in the Premier League table, while Tottenham remain in third, two points clear of Chelsea.
