Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ruel Fox says that the club's English players need "a lot of mental strength" in order to get over their Euro 2016 disappointment.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ruel Fox has claimed that the club's English contingent need "a lot of mental strength" to get over the disappointment of Euro 2016.

Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Danny Rose were part of Roy Hodgson's England team that crashed out of the tournament at the last-16 stage after losing to minnows Iceland.

Fox, who played for Spurs between 1995 and 2000, believes that it is vital for the players to have the right mentality if they are to launch another Premier League title challenge.

In an interview with bwin, Fox said: "The crucial thing for Spurs this season will be how quickly their English core can get the sour taste of the Euros out of their mouth. There's a lot of pressure to replicate that form, considering how the likes of Kane started last season.

"Everything went right for those players last year, with Kane, Eric Dier, Danny Rose and Dele Alli all getting call ups for England and it was massive mental boost.

"Now, following the poor tournament, there's a lot of backlash towards them, so it's going to take a lot of mental strength to pick themselves back up again."
