Ahead of the 2020 Europa League final, Sports Mole rounds up everything you need to know about the contest.

A Europa League campaign which has spanned more than 12 months finally comes to an end on Friday night when Sevilla take on Inter Milan in Koln.

The contest pits the competition's two most successful clubs against each other, with Sevilla having lifted the trophy five times and Inter three.

When is the Europa League 2019-20 final?

The final will take place on Friday, August 21 at 8pm BST (9pm local time).



Where is the match being held?

The 49,698-seater RheinEnergieStadion - to be renamed Stadion Koln for this match - will play host to the contest.

The final was originally scheduled to take place in Gdansk until the coronavirus pandemic forced the latter stages of the competition to be played out in Germany.

La Liga side Sevilla - winners of the competition a record five times - take on Serie A outfit Inter Milan, three-time winners and five-time finalists.

Sevilla have won all five of their previous finals, all in the space of 10 years from 2006 to 2016, while Inter have not got their hands on this trophy since 1998.

How did they reach the final?

Sevilla finished top of Group A after five wins from their six outings, before overcoming Cluj, Roma, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United en route to the final.

Inter Milan, meanwhile, began the campaign in the Champions League but dropped into the Europa League after finishing third in their group behind Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund.

The Italian outfit have since beaten Ludogorets Razgrad, Getafe, Bayer Leverkusen and Shakhtar Donetsk to reach the showpiece event.

How have both clubs fared this season?

Both Sevilla and Inter Milan have already secured their place in the Champions League next season as a result of their league finishes, but the Europa League final represents their final chance of silverware in 2019-20.
