Essam El-Hadaray is named in Egypt's starting lineup to face Saudi Arabia at the age of 45 years and five months.

Essam El-Hadary is to become the World Cup's oldest ever player after being named in Egypt's starting lineup to face Saudi Arabia.

The Al-Taawoun stopper, an unused sub in the Pharaohs' first two matches, will start in goal at the age of 45 years, five months and 13 days old.

El-Hadary takes over from Mohamed El-Shenawy, as Egypt attempt to get off the mark with their first Group A point in the 2018 World Cup, although the top two spots have already been claimed by Russia and Uruguay.

Mohamed Salah is also a starter for the African nation, despite being left out of the original lineup posted on their official Twitter account, amid growing rumours that he is about to retire from international football.

Saudi Arabia are without Taisir Al-Jassim for today's match in Volgograd, meanwhile, and there is also no Mansoor Al-Harbi in their ranks due to an injury problem.

Elsewhere, Mohammed Al-Owais loses his place in goal to Yasser Al-Mosailem for the dead rubber.

The Green Falcons last faced Egypt in the 1999 Confederations Cup, running out 5-1 winners on that occasion.
