Real Madrid have confirmed that goalkeeper Keylor Navas suffered a groin injury while on international duty with Costa Rica.

The 30-year-old started in his country's 1-1 draw with Honduras on Saturday, but later withdrew from Oscar Ramirez's squad before the final 2018 World Cup qualifier against Panama.

The Costa Rican Football Federation claimed that Navas had felt an issue in his right leg and that subsequent examinations showed he had a "soft tissue strain in his hamstring muscle".

Real wrote in a statement: "After tests carried out this afternoon on our player, Keylor Navas, at the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital, he has been diagnosed with a swollen adductor muscle in his right groin. His recovery will continue to be assessed."

Navas joins an injury list featuring the likes of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Mateo Kovacic and Marcelo.
