The Philadelphia Union secure a point from their MLS clash with the Chicago Fire as a late penalty from Sebastien Le Toux earns them the draw.

A stoppage-time penalty from Sebastien Le Toux earned Philadelphia Union a point in their MLS clash with Chicago Fire.

The Fire pressed early in the game and Alex tried an ambitious effort from 30 yards to test Zac MacMath, but the keeper was equal to it as he held his dipping volley.

Union defender Sheanon Williams almost diverted the ball into his own net as he tried to clear the danger from an Alex cross, but fortunately for him his header went just wide of the post.

Philadephia got into the game went close to taking the lead as Le Toux latched onto Conor Casey's flick-on and raided into the box, but his low drive went inches wide.

In the second half, Lovel Palmer became the latest player to try his luck from distance as he cut inside from the right and drilled an effort with his left foot that was well saved by MacMath.

Chicago took the lead in the 60th minute when Jeff Larentowicz found space inside the box and guided his header from Harrison Shipp's corner into the roof of the net.

The Fire looked to be holding out for the three points until the referee harshly awarded a penalty against the home side when Le Toux's volley struck Gonzalo Segares on the arm inside the box.

The striker took the kick himself and managed to bury his effort into the bottom corner to earn Philadelphia a draw, despite the best efforts of Sean Johnson.
