Laszlo Kleinheisler scores for Hungary against Norway to give the Magyars a 1-0 win and a narrow Euro 2016 playoff lead in Thursday's first leg in Oslo.

Hungary have claimed a 1-0 win against Norway in their Euro 2016 playoff first leg at Oslo's Ullevaal Stadion.

The hosts were first to threaten when, in the fourth minute, Per Skjelbred latched on to a precise pass and fired towards the roof of the net, but Gabor Kiraly pulled off an acrobatic save to thwart his opponent.

Hungary, however, worked their way into the game and were rewarded in the 26th minute when Laszlo Kleinheisler controlled an incisive pass on the edge of the box and curled the ball inside the left post.

Per-Mathias Hogmo's charges came close to restoring parity on a number of occasions, most notably through Alexander Soderlund's low drive just after the half-hour mark, but Kiraly was equal to it.

Omar Elabdellaoui tried his luck from the edge of the box early after the restart, but his effort, directed towards the bottom right corner, was too weak to get past the Hungary stopper.

Save for two half-chances from Balazs Dzsudzsak, the momentum was well and truly with Norway, but they failed to break down their well-drilled opponents as the likes of Marcus Pedersen plugged away with inaccurate efforts.

In the latter stages of the match, the hosts spurned two glorious chances to draw level as Stefan Johansen's low drive was thwarted by Kiraly before Andre Helland nodded over from point-blank range.
